Florence off-the-beaten-track :
where the city adjoins the countryside
An experience designed for travellers who have already explored the city’s monumental squares and museums … and want to discover more!
OVERVIEW
This experience is designed for active travellers and for families travelling with teenagers . It explores Florence off-the-beaten-track, away from the city’s historic core. It moves around the the Oltrarno, a vibrant area south of the river, and into the southern hills, a few miles away from the monumental area.
Once we have crossed the iconic Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge), the walk that leads up to the southern hills is pleasant. We will find scenic gardens on the way, hidden places where painters, sculptors, poets and writers found their inspiration. Our destination is the Piazzale Michelangelo and the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, where you will enjoy memorable ‘wow’ views of Florence. Along the way back there are also a couple of excellent gelato and cappuccino options that we will not be miss, places that locals know and love.
