A full-day plunged in the beauty of five Italian gems: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.
OVERVIEW
Cinque Terre is the name of a district that encompasses five glorious towns, where small colourful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces and where harbours are filled with fishing boats. Visitors to this district, a National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be fascinated by the beauty of the villages. Each one of them has in fact a very peculiar history and character.
The villages are accessible by train from La Spezia Centrale Train Station, approximately 2 hours drive from Florence. Once in the Cinque Terre district, if the weather is clear and the sea is not rough, train hopping between one village and the other may be combined with a nice boat ride.
In each of the five towns, trattorias turn out seafood specialties along with the Ligurian world famous sauce, the pesto. The introduction in the Middle Ages of dry stone walls, moreover, made it possible to grow vines on the slope of the mountains, giving life to an authentic local culture of amazing white wines. A National Park, old villages and traditions, excellent Foods: you cannot miss a day in the Cinque Terre.
